What is UED 102 ?

UED 102 is a new subject in UiTM for part 1 student. So basically it is a soft skills subject which provide you with some motivational talk from the experienced lecturers. This subject requires you to do an assessments which is 100% coursework. The first assignment is a group work assignment which provide 40% while the second one is study skills e-portfolio which is for individual work and provide you another 60%.


Group Assignment (40%)

This assignment aims to provide students with the platform to experience them as university students, and work as a team to complete the given task. Each group have to prepare a creative 10-minute video of five important places in the campus. They have to visit the five chosen places and using their creativity, the have to make the video as interesting as possible. The video later need to be submit and will be evaluated by the respective lecturer.


Study Skills e-Portfolio (60%)

The purpose of this task is to introduce the students on processes in identifying the learning strategies and to expose them with the study skills in university. This task will give them many advantages including to give them the important study skills, determine the learning strategies that fit their learning style and may be used as a reference for their future task in their academic studies. Every single student need to prepare documents that shows their individual study skills and strategies that they have learnt throughout the semester. The documents have to be related to the chapters within the syllabus. There are seven main chapters that need to be in their documents. The chapters are:

Topic 5 : Memory, Learning & Improving Concentration

  • Organizational Strategies (Activity 4.7: Van Blerkom, 2009, pg. 107)-optional
  • Concentration Strategies (Activity 6-1: Van Blerkom, 2009, pg. 144)
  • Concentration Chart (Figure 6,4: Van Blerkom, 2009, pg. 161)
  • Reading Text (Figure 12,3: Van Blerkom, 2009, pg. 309)
Topic 6 : Taking Lecture Notes
  • Note-Taking Strategies (Activity 5-1: Van Blerkom, 2009, pg. 116)
  • Note-Taking Exercise using the Cornell Method
Topic 7 : Academic Integrity & Performance 
  • GPA Worksheet

These are the important elements that need to be in their e-portfolio. Student need to prepare their document throughout the semester. In order to enable the lecturers to provide a feedback for further improvement in their documents, student should be able to present the e-portfolio from time to time. Creativity is highly recommended in this task. It is encouraged to do a neat and legible documents for a better outcomes.
